Doreen Akry (PT, DPT)

Clinic director | Physical Therapist

Doreen graduated from California State University Northridge with a B.S. in Kinesiology Exercise Science. In 2010, she achieved a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from University of Southern California, ranked #1 in the nation for Physical Therapy. She has worked with the neurological, pediatric, and orthopedic population, bringing a diverse perspective to the clinic.

Outside of the clinic Doreen enjoys activities such as tennis, Pilates, spending time with her friends and family, and traveling.

 

Erica Landers (PT, DPT, OCS, PRPC)

Physical Therapist

Erica is a southern native, born and raised in Alabama. She began dancing competitively at a young age. Throughout her 15+ years of dancing, she suffered multiple injuries requiring physical therapy. After experiencing the benefits of physical therapy first hand, she knew at an early age that she wanted to become a physical therapist.

Erica attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham where she received a bachelor of science degree with a major in healthcare management. She continued on to the University of North Florida where she graduated at the top of her class with a doctorate in physical therapy.

Erica is committed to excellence in her career and continues to pursue additional certifications. In 2013, she became a board certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS). In addition to her passion for orthopedics, she also decided to pursue a certification in pelvic floor physical therapy. Originally inspired by her sister’s pregnancy, she became aware of the need for physical therapy in this often underserved population. She enjoys treating pregnant and postpartum women, as well as women and men suffering with pelvic floor disorders. Erica’s post graduate studies include extensive training with the North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy, as well as extensive training with the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute.

Whether she is working with patients with orthopedic or pelvic health disorders, Erica uses her clinical knowledge and manual therapy skills to help her patients reach their goals and maximum potential as quickly as possible.

 

Ashkan Ashkani (PT, DPT, CMTPT, CertVR, COMT)

Physical Therapist

Ashkan Ashkani, PT, DPT, CMTPT, Cert VR,COMT( ongoing ) is a physical therapist who has an orthopedic and sports physical therapist background and has been working in a variety of orthopedic and sports outpatient facilities. Ashkan was born and raised in Iran and became a physical therapist for the Iran national weight lifting, canoeing and dragon boat, Iran national gymnastics, and futsal teams as his very first experiences.

He moved to the United States to pursue graduate studies at UNG (University of North Georgia) in Georgia state, where he earned a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. Ashkan is certified to treat vestibular and vertigo from UNG, as well as continuing education in concussion and TBI conditions with Concussion Corner Academy from New York.Ashkan is certified (CMTPT) in Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy and Dry Needling by Myopain Seminars in Maryland.He is certified in COMT and believes effectrive manual therapy is a key for successful result . He incorporates kinesio tape and cupping therapy techniques into his treatment to assist his patients' recovery. He received his BFR certification to use in post-op rehab and to assist athletes in returning to sport as soon as possible.

Ashkan is bilingual and can speak Farsi and English fluently.

Ashkan moved to Los Angeles from Eastcost in 2022. He was wrestler and enjoys surfing, beach going, playing soccer, working out, cooking, and listening to pop and country musics. loves travelling, camping, seeing new people and learning about new cultures.

 

Shaugn Mallari (PT, DPT, CAFS)

Physical Therapist

Shaugn is originally from Los Angeles where he grew up playing tennis and basketball.  He earned his bachelor’s degree from Cal Poly and his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of St. Augustine in Austin, TX.  His passion for treating the sports and orthopedic populations led him to continue his education by completing a year-long residency in orthopedics and is currently eligible to become a Board-Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist.  Shaugn also holds certifications in Applied Functional Science and Blood Flow Restriction. During his free time, he enjoys hiking with his two dogs, running, playing pickleball, and rooting for his LA sports teams.

 

Mirella Squillace (PTA)

Physical Therapist Assistant

Mirella grew up enjoying ballet and dance throughout her childhood in her home state of New Jersey.  She then attended Seton Hall University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Biology. To pursue her career goals of promoting an active lifestyle and helping others, Mirella continued on to become a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant. She found herself especially drawn to helping those recovering from injury in orthopedic settings throughout her clinical rotations.

Outside of South Pacific, Mirella enjoys strength training, hiking and exploring her new home of Southern California.

 

Tatiana Crochet (PTA)

Physical Therapist Assistant

Tatiana was born and raised in southern California in a multi-cultural house in Los Angeles with her older sister and parents, Camille and Edna. She enjoyed participating in different sports growing up including martial arts, golf, swimming, volleyball, and track and field. She then continued her athletic career in college by competing on the track and field team as a hammer thrower for 5 years. Tatiana graduated from California State University of Northridge with her bachelor’s degree in kinesiology with a focus on exercise science. Following graduation, she worked in outpatient orthopedic clinics as a physical therapist aide to apply what she learned in class and gain experience. She then returned to school to earn her degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant where she would be able to treat patients under the supervision of a Physical Therapist.

Tatiana has worked in several different PT settings including outpatient orthopedics, inpatient at Valley Presbyterian Hospital, home health, skilled nursing facilities, psychiatric facilities, and a worker comp clinic. Although each setting brings a different challenge, she prefers outpatient orthopedics where she works with patients of all ages.

Today, Tatiana continues to stay active and competitive through Crossfit but also enjoys hiking, biking and most outdoor activities. She and her husband are advocates of movement to their son Luca and share the value of the ability to continue to move their bodies, learn new skills and improve old ones.

The Physical Therapist Aides are here to help you on your recovery journey! After seeing a Physical Therapist, you will be greeted by one of these aides to help you perform stretches and exercises to increase your mobility and strength to live a healthier, pain-free life. The aides will also perform taping, ultrasound, traction, EMS (electrical muscle stimulation), cold/heat therapy, and more!

Feel free to ask as many questions that you have about your program so that we’re able to modify your exercise and stretches to fit your needs. We want to build a program that is tailored specifically to you!

Your home exercise program is also provided by the aides. Ask the aide you are working with for more information on how to continue to make healthy progress towards reducing pain while increasing mobility and strength with proper form.

Katie is a registered dietitian and certified personal trainer from Los Angeles who has a passion for helping her clients learn how to create healthy and sustainable lifestyle changes to prevent and reverse disease. She focuses on getting to the root cause of your problems to help you heal from within. Katie specializes in heart health and values using plants and whole foods as a foundation to optimal health. She uses a step-by-step approach to gradually build long-lasting habits that will leave you feeling better than ever.
